Our mission is to provide customized experiences for our guests. Green River Adventures is a grass-roots, family-owned business. We live on the banks of the Green River and love what we do. Our business exists to create unforgettable whitewater experiences for your family or group.
No matter what adventure you are in search of, Green River Adventures can make it happen! Whether it be whitewater kayaking on some of the world’s most famous heart pumping rivers, or paddling through gentle rapids, we are the connection you need to make your summer in Western North Carolina one to remember.
Owners, Sara and Tim Bell
Sara started Green River Adventures in 2006. It looked like so much fun, her husband Tim joined the crew last year. He quickly climbed the ranks from Maintenance Man to Operations Manager. You can find either one of them on the water, driving your trip, taking your reservation, or waiving to you from their front porch on the banks for the Green River. They have two awesome kids, Finn and Hurley.

Soph is the woman! A native of New Zealand, Soph is returning for her third year of teaching and guiding at Green River Adventures. After completing her Bachelors in Adventure Recreation and Outdoor Education, she began chasing the summer around the globe. She spends her “other” summer teaching kayaking at the New Zealand Kayak School. She’s one of our most requested instructors, so if you want to learn how to roll – she’s the ticket.
Cat is another Kiwi joining us this summer. She grew up on the South-East coast of New Zealand and completed a Bachelor of Outdoor Education and Adventure Recreation (Dist.) in Christchurch. Over the last year she has gained her NZ Outdoor Instructors Kayak and Hiking level 1 awards. Cat is currently working as a sea kayak and walk guide in Abel Tasman National Park and has spent the last two years instructing kayaking and school camps on the South Island and is excited about her first summer paddling abroad!
Casey is a full time Saluda resident and a graduate of Brevard College. He recently returned to Saluda after a year of traveling. Casey has ten years of kayaking experience having first learned to kayak on the French Broad River. He spends his free time biking, rock climbing and working on a mountain bike trail system on his Saluda property. This is Casey’s second year with Green River Adventures.
Matt first learned how to canoe back in 1995 on the Hiwassee River with his dad and family doctor. As soon as he was able began working at the nearest rafting company Hiwassee Outfitters taking folks down the river and the occasional jaunts to the Ocoee River for whitewater surf sessions. Moved to North Carolina in 2008 to play in the mountains and teach history at Rosman High School. From here he discovered the amazing world of steep creeking and has been hooked ever since. After nearly two decades on the water Matt still gets the same joy taking folks out on the water.
Michael is studying history at the University of North Carolina at Asheville. He is passionate about the outdoors and is an avid whitewater paddler. Michael spent last year guiding in Alaska on the Nenana River. We’ve heard great things and are looking forward to adding Michael to the GRA team.
Jeremy “Soup” Campbell
Jeremy Campbell, a.k.a. “Soup” hails from the land of public education during the school year, and the land of mountain sports during the summer and winter. He and his wife Kris live in Brevard, NC, where they are actively in search of their next adventure. Soup has been involved in the outdoor industry since 1997, the same year he started kayaking. He is extremely excited about his first summer with GRA. It’s impossible not to have fun when Soup is around!
Eric comes to us from the Outdoor and Wilderness Studies program at Amherst College. A native of Massachusetts, Eric spends his time ice and rock climbing when he’s not bombing down whitewater. Eric was our most requested guide last year and we are stoked to have him back for another!
Daniel is currently a student at Ohio University studying Outdoor Recreation and Education. When he’s not on the water, he’s catching air on his mountain bike or scaling a rock. We are excited to have Daniel as our resident “intern” as he attempts to complete is Bachelor of Arts. Daniel knows how to get along with a crowd, he has 10 siblings!
Jamie is who you’ll likely speak with when booking your trip or checking in. He’s a graduate of Appalachian State’s Recreation Management Program and currently working on his Master’s in British Columbia. When he’s not at GRA you can find him peddling up some of the steepest grades in Western North Carolina. Jamie joins us for his second year.
