DESCRIPTION: The Lower Green is perfect for the entire family. This guide-assisted river trip takes you down a 3-mile section of the Lower Green River that offers easily navigated rapids, beautiful scenery, world-class guides, and tons of fun along the way.
The Lower Green is a great whitewater experience for everyone and the perfect place to bring your kids or hone your skills before plunging in the Upper Green. Your guide will point you in the right direction as you paddle through Class I-II rapids in your own inflatable Kayak. Enjoy the scenery, but don’t forget to stop along the way for a swim in a deep, green pool or take a trip off a rope swing.
Recommended for: Groups with a wide range of ages and/or physical abilities; first-timers; families with kids; cautious adventurers; large groups; Boy Scouts; School/Youth groups.
Distance/Duration: 3-mile section, 3-hour trip. Sections may vary depending on trip schedule.
Schedule: The Lower Green is scheduled in the afternoon at 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm and sometimes 1:30pm and 3:30pm due to Duke Energy’s Scheduled Flow Releases. Don’t see a trip time that suits your group? Contact us, we are happy to help!
Recommended footwear: Footwear that can get wet and won’t come off in the river is required (Sandals with a heel strap, water shoes, booties, old-sneakers, etc). We rent river shoes at our outpost ($7/pair).

Be ready to get wet! Every Green River Adventure encounters water. We supply long-sleeve neoprene tops and nylon splash pants on chilly days.

Arrive 15 minutes early to allow for check in, orientation, and changing.
Early morning? We’ve got hot coffee waiting for you! If not, the river will wake you up:)
Parking in Saluda is tight. GRA has limited space. There are also long-term public lots. If our lot is full, ask a staff member and we’ll be happy to advise.

Each individual in your group is required to fill out a Participant Agreement Form. Minors not accompanied by a parent/guardian? Click here to download, have it filled out prior to arrival, and bring with you.
Get “RIVER READY”– Most items are available in our retail store.
Hang out in our gear room where your guide will greet you at the trip time.
If you have an EPI Pen or fast acting medication please let your guide know and we’ll be happy to carry it in our dry bag.

Green River Adventures’ trips run regardless of weather conditions, with the exception of weather or water conditions deemed too dangerous by Green River Adventures. Passing thunderstorms are common in the summer, but rarely result in cancelled or delayed trips. At our discretion, we may delay or postpone a trip in order to avoid passing thunderstorms. In the event a trip is cancelled, you will receive a full refund.
