Trip Details

The “Trek” starts with a 0.75-mile hike to the top of Big Bradley Falls before rappelling a 30ft vertical wall to access the Cove Creek Gorge below. From there, enjoy an amphibious hike through the creek bed as you encounter obstacles and opportunities including waterfall jumps, rope-assisted passages, rock slides, log crossings, old-growth forests, and wildlife. Take the easy route, or follow the path of the water. This unique adventure offers a variety of challenges for a variety comfort levels, making it the perfect activity for a families, groups, and friends. Finish your Trek with a hike through the historical fields of Walcott Bottoms in the Green River Game Lands. This is a guide-favorite adventure, and we think you’ll agree.

This is a high-adventure, wilderness experience that requires active participation and some level of physical fitness. This trip is not recommended for some older adults, or participants with health conditions that may require immediate attention. ***Slippery Rocks! We rent and sell Astral Brewers, amphibious footwear with sticky rubber soles, which gives participants a significant traction advantage and will enhance your experience.

Looking for a Full-Day Canyoneering Experience? The Waterfall Trek is commonly combined with the Little Bradley or Big Bradley Waterfall Rappel ($179+, lunch from The Purple Onion Cafe included!). Participants will Rappel first, eat lunch, and then continue on the Waterfall Trek to complete the day.

Distance/Duration: 4.5 miles, 4.5 hours total trip time.

Schedule: The Waterfall Trek is pre-scheduled in the afternoons at 1:30pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Check here for available times and dates.

What to Expect

What to Expect – Rappels / Hikes

Planning and preparing for your arrival:

Check out the weather. Dress appropriately for the weather conditions.

Be ready to get wet! Every Green River Adventure encounters water. We supply long-sleeve neoprene tops and nylon splash pants for participants.

Footwear: Slippery rocks! We recommend closed-toe, amphibious shoes with sticky-rubber tread. Canyoneering shoes (Astral Brewer) are available for rent for $10.

Arrive 15 minutes early to allow for check in, orientation, and changing.

Early morning? We’ve got hot coffee waiting for you! If not, the river will wake you up:)

When you arrive:

Parking in Saluda is tight. GRA has limited space. There are also long-term public lots. If our lot is full, ask a staff member and we’ll be happy to advise.

Check in at the front desk.

Each individual in your group is required to fill out a Participant Agreement Form. Minors not accompanied by a parent/guardian? Click here to download, have it filled out prior to arrival, and bring with you.

Get “ADVENTURE READY”– Most items are available in our retail store.

  • Get changed. *We recommend long pants for rappels.
  • Sunscreen – apply before your trip.
  • Hats – your hat can fit under a helmet. We don’t recommend wearing full-brimmed hats.
  • Sunglasses – retainers are recommended.
  • Cell phones, wallets, keys, valuables – use your car as a locker for valuables and leave your keys at the front desk.

Hang out in our gear room where your guide will greet you at the trip time.

If you have an EPI Pen or fast acting medication please let your guide know and we’ll be happy to carry it in our dry bag.

On your trip:

  • Your guide will be taking photos along the way. Smile!
  • Water/Drinks – Your guides will have water for you. Participants may bring their own water bottles, too.
  • Snacks – chewy bars are provided on our wilderness trips (Upper Green, Trek, Rappels, Hikes)
After your trip:
  • Changing rooms are available in our outpost.
  • Once you’re dry, check out your Trip Photos on the big screen. In a hurry? You can view and purchase your trip photos online at https://greenriveradventures.com/mypics

Participant Requirements, Cancellation, and Weather Policies

PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT EVERYONE IN YOUR PARTY IS AWARE OF THE POLICIES BELOW:

GUIDED HIKES AND RAPPELS—PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Guests are expected to arrive 15 minutes prior to trip time.  If you are running late, we will do our best to accommodate you on another trip that same day, given availability.  No refunds will be issued to late arrivals – if you fail to show up for your trip on time, we still incur the same costs and may have turned others away.
  • All guests are required to sign a waiver.
  • If under 18: a parent or guardian must also sign the waiver.
  • If under 13: the participant must be actively accompanied by an adult on the tour.
  • All guests are required to have closed-toe shoes appropriate for the activity. Shoes are available for rent at check-in.
CANCELLATION POLICIES:
  • All reservations are charged in full at the time of booking.  If you need to cancel or modify your reservation, you are required to notify us 72 hours / 3 days prior to your scheduled tour.  Cancellations or modifications made within 72 hours / 3 days of tour are not eligible for refund.
  • Reservations are considered final 72 hours / 3 days prior to your scheduled tour, and are not eligible for a refund or rescheduling.
WEATHER AND HIGH/LOW WATER:

Green River Adventures’ trips run regardless of weather conditions, with the exception of weather or water conditions deemed dangerous by  Green River Adventures.  Passing thunderstorms are common in the summer, but rarely result in cancelled or delayed trips.  At our discretion, we may delay or postpone a trip in order to avoid passing thunderstorms.  In the event a trip is cancelled, you will receive a full refund.
